DAY 1: LONDON

This was my first ever international trip. I was so nervous and had so much trouble sleeping the night before.

I made a rookie mistake when choosing my seats. Now please be aware that I had only ever flown Domestic and these flights are lucky to be 2 hours long, so naturally, in my excitement, I picked my usual seat position and forgot all about the body’s needs, but I will get to that later.

Due to the fact that Brisbane still had a smaller international airport, I couldn’t catch a flight from Brisbane to London, so I ended up having to catch a domestic flight to Sydney. I was sad that mama was saying goodbye to me at a domestic airport. I can not fault Qantas for the helpfulness and organisation levels. When I got off the plane, it was so simple for me to find exactly where I was going.

I am on the plane and queue, problem #1, I need to pee. I was seated next to a lovely elderly couple who fell asleep within minutes of takeoff. I have never tested my bladder so much then I did on that flight.

I got engaged in line for the toilet.

DAY 2: London Calling

I got very ill due to being very jetlagged,

The day ended up being hot (feeling good about my packing choices)

Went for High Tea.

Had fun with roommate, but not for long.

Brought random dudes back to room, talked with them for hours, friend bailed, kicked them out, propped open door.

Birthday Adventures in Melbourne, Victoria

GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND

13 May – 3 June 2016
 – Britain
 – Scotland
 – Northern Ireland
 – Republic of Ireland
 – Wales (more like waved as we drove passed)

The world loves to tell you what to do and how to do. What is expected of you and if you don’t conform, then there is a flaw in you.
For example: your birthday is about celebrating your life with your loved ones. Friends and family. Rate the worthiness of our life by the amount of people who wish us Happy Birthday! The amount of presents we get, the amount of people who attend our parties. And the common denominator is always, amounts. These things are just useless things. That’s all they are, things.

Now don’t get me wrong. If the only thing you really want is a party with a bunch of people, then do that. But I have heard many times the phrase, “I’m only having a party because my friends want me to, I really wouldn’t have one otherwise” The major factor in this is that it’s YOUR birthday, not theirs. Oh, but it’s my 16th, my 21st, my 30th. Who cares, it’s Your birthday. Which means the only person who you need to make happy on this day is YOU. I can’t really judge too harshly though. I was one of those people. My success in life was how many people cared enough to send me a message on my birthday. I am a loner, I don’t have many friends. I find it hard to make them and even harder to keep them. I grow and change too quickly for people to keep up sometimes and being an overgrown stray cat, means I don’t have a problem with loving and leaving people when I have outgrown them. Cruel and harsh, but I am all about honesty.

So for my 25th I wanted to do something really special that reflected who I am and where I was in life.
So I made a last minute decision to fly to the other side of country and explore a city I had never been to before, Melbourne-Victoria.

I booked a flight from the Sunshine Coast with a stopover in Sydney and within 6 hours I was wandering the chaotic streets of Melbourne, struggling to find where my hotel was. Now I am a huge believer in walking wherever I can, but for some reason whenever I am looking for a hotel with my luggage I always end up taking the longest route possible without even realizing. After taking like 20 minutes for 10 minute walk, I finally found my hotel. It was lovely and clean and most importantly, cool. Got to love air conditioning.

Trip Video

I did a short overview video of some of the things I got up to at the Gympie Show this year. Check it out and I hope you like it.

Best Food & Drink

1. Gluten free Meatlovers Pizza

This amazing concoction is from a famous smoked meats stall here in Gympie. Beauty and The Beard are a husband and wife team and they make amazing smoked meats and use all local produce when they can.

One of my favourite things to eat is the crunchy potato fries, with fresh coleslaw and pulled pork. I am not normally a coleslaw fan, I tend to avoid it whenever I can, but I love their coleslaw. They keep the sauce (is it mayo? This just shows how much I know about coleslaw) separate and only add it when you order, so it keeps everything crunchy and fresh.

The Pulled pork is so tender and just falls apart, they also do other meats such as their Brisket, which is so tasty, but the Pulled Pork Loaded Fries won my heart this time.

Rating: 10 out of 10.

2. Harajuku Crepe

This was my all time favourite dessert at the show. The strawberries were from local farmers and the ice-cream was so creamy. The melted chocolate was Belgium and when it hit the ice-cream it went hard, like a higher quality ice-magic.

Rating: 9 out of 10

3. Macaroon Platter

I have never seen this stand before, but it was such an awesome idea, for those who have dietary requirements because even though the stall was called GF Donuts, they also did Vegan donuts and you could get them with a variety of fillings. But I am a sucker for plain hot cinnamon donuts.

These were amazing. They were soft and doughy inside, but nice and crunchy on the outside.

Rating: 7 out of 10.

I cried when I got to Dubai and had the couple take care of me.

The man got worried when I disappeared (random bomb check)

Got overwhelmed by my dubai airport (freaking huge)

Couldn’t connect to the wifi

Had a man flirt with me and then changed my seat to a whole aisle to myself.

Landed in London, had no idea what was happening or even what sections I was in, confused passport line for customs (which was closed)

Kept getting calls from the driver while in line (huge signs saying no phones)

Met driver, talked to whole way.

Couldn’t check-in, had to wait at Contiki headquarters napped there.

Finally checked in, accidentally locked door, so roommate couldn’t get in. (wish she was still locked out)

Apologised like crazy.

Explored local area, got yelled at by lady in the park.

Bed?

SINGAPORE 2019

My best friend convinced me to fly to Singapore before she moved so she could show me her home city.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I can’t wait to go back again. Before this trip, I had no idea it was possible to be homesick for a place I had never lived in.
